      Hi

Type 2 Diabetes normally occurs due to obesity and a high sugar diet over time. It can also occur in the elderly as the body begins to deteriorate and can no longer process sugar as efficiently as it use to.

Whilst working as a Dietitian I have seen some patient who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes , caught fairly early into its progression –
-they have lost large amounts of weight
-returned to a healthy weight for their height
-eaten a healthy low sugar diet
-exercised to improve their insulin sensitivity which resulted in their sugar levels returning to safe markers .

It is not always possible to ” reverse ” type 2 diabetes but the more the patients follow the above steps the better their diabetic control will be and they will need less medication to control it .
